Seasons 04:08
SEASONS Seasons changing on a daily basis blossoms killed by sudden frost migrating birds fall from the sky but we stay no matter what it costs your love can be so warm so comforting and wise one day we won't need any cover or disguise endless freeze-thaw cycles I cut my love down to the base I want it to survive not to grow and die this house is full of bodies full of sweat and dirt and fear you’re trying to get rid of me while you say you need me here you try to wear me out with hostility made of shame your voice is calm and clear while your ghost’s still are untamed your back is black and blue and there's a knife right in your side you might still want to Jeckill while you already hide
2.
HAIRDRYER MAN Hairdryer Man there you stand at the wall of the loo with the dryer in your hand people don't understand got no hair to be dried there's just air and it's hot all you hear is the sound of the fan your ear close to the dryer and you lay your finger on your lips when I ask you what’s the point it's just like sex there's no point in talking about after six or seven hours your dryer dies in your hand something melts something smells while you pack all your things and you go to the shop to buy a new one the people there may be scared by your grin but anyway you just pay and you say It's win-win well In fact you don't say it' s win-win but it's wind wind kind of funny but drying is your job explaining is not hair dryer man there you stand at the wall of the loo got no hair to be dried there's just air and it's hot perhaps this is a new trend perhaps it is not perhaps they’ll send you to a mental institution perhaps no one will ever see your contribution to modern life you don’t care and neither do I hair dryer man you don’t try but you dry and you stand at the wall of the loo it's the thing that you do

Grind 02:57
GRIND I want this mill to be eaten by flames I want this grinding stone to burst I want the paddles of this millwheel to break off one by one could someone please put an end to this curse far from anything you need betrayed by the one to be trusted both starving and disgusted at the very same time I'm waiting for swarms of locusts to swallow the wheat the oat and the rye I want this river to run dry I want this mill to be eaten by flames I want this place to vanish in the ground I wish that poisonous fog covered the fields and the town I want this mill to burn down unable to say a word Unable to refuse what they feed you Though you know it will make your teeth fall out bite by bite
4.
Kill You 03:15
KILL YOU It took such a long time to kill you and now you're gone it still feels so wrong the fact that you'd been an asshole didn’t make it easier to be alone cause the wounds you’d inflicted got septic when I was on my own you wanna make amends now you're crying in the dark but you treated me just like a dog when you knew I wouldn't bark the scissors-things cut out all of your remains leaving a dark hole of infinitive depth I lost some parts of me in there as well gonna call the department of identity theft now everything's so stale and obsolete I'm buying things I don't really need I'm talking to people I don't like to meet and I'm checking for messages I don't want to read It took such a long time to kill you and now you're gone it still feels so wrong
5.
Stones 02:50
STONES Stones in your way stones in the wall stones that are big stones that are small stones used to build or used to destroy stones for your anger stones for your joy stones on the doorstep stones in your bath stones come in handy when push comes to shove stones stones everywhere stones don't care stones in the streets in the trunk of your car stones having drinks down at the bar stones that are heavy or light as a feather stones in your kidneys stones in your bladder stones on your feet on your chest on your head and a big one just six feet up when you're dead stones stones everywhere stones don't care and neither do I
6.
Freeze 03:10
FREEZE Can’t you feel the pressure drop can’t you hear the wheeze better keep on moving cause everything in here is going to freeze you still think you can make a difference so you really want to stay while I smile in self-defense trying to keep it away it’ll take our strength it’ll suck our blood It’ll deny our existence it’ll kill our love you can’t ease our pain for now so leave as long as you can I won’t be able to handle your panic I can’t even handle a pan
7.
Boat 03:07
BOAT I saw love in a boat it was floating away from the shore more and more day by day I saw you at the door taking your hat saying I’m just gonna get me some cigarettes if I try to hold you it’s just to hold you back and if I want you to say you’d like to stay it’s just to push you away don’t even try to get me out of my mood I won't rest before you feel worse than I do if I don’t get love I take hate hate is the last thing to die And you can’t fly with your damaged wings but you can still use them to hit me some things you can’t ignore you will hurt me even if it hurts you more I saw you at the door taking your hat saying I’m just gonna get me some cigarettes of course I knew it was just a joke since you don’t smoke you never did we throw dirt at each other and we swallow the soap and we kiss while we feel more like cutting each other's throat I saw love in a boat it was floating away from the shore more an more day by day

LEAVE AND LET LOVE I’m not gonna play the fool for you anymore I’m not gonna say those stupid things to you no,not anymore we're living in different towns in different countries on different tectonic plates it’s not our fault seems to be our fate I’m not gonna play the fool for you anymore I’m not gonna say those stupid things to you no, not anymore it seemed to be a good idea at the time but it’s not anymore it’s time to go we're living on different planets near different stars in different parts of the universe everyone should get what they deserve I don't care if you go to hell my dear or if you fly to the heavens above the only thing that I know is you have to leave and let love

Unspoken 03:39
UNSPOKEN Lost in the woods surrounded by the unspoken separated we stood our spirits unbroken don’t know why we have to fight and who has caused this ordeal uncertain what we’re fighting against we’re dead certain it’s real driven by fear I struck into the void driven by anger I missed the whole point I grasped at nothing when I wanted to hold you tight and I was misguided when I thought I was right I tried to stay tough but I failed and I hovered I didn’t know that the past was taking your presence as cover we lost all the tracks but we found some traces and we watched our steps when the ghost's were getting faces there's a walkthrough and it's written in our guts better prepare for the unexpected if you don't want to end up nuts lost in the woods still not sure of the end together we’re standing soul and mind hand in hand

VANDYKE ELEVATOR Fresh paint on the wall a vandyke-like brown stuck in the elevator going down noise at a door up there sounds kinda cruel someone is yelling someone with tools can't understand too much reverb but I think I should curb my expectations for this day but on the bright side I won't be hit by a car I won't die on a train on a boat or a plane seems that I’m trapped in a little brown cell funny thing is I like it quite well I look at my hands in the warm brown light hey I might look like some daguerreotype of guy stuttering moves the thing gets alive the people up there get startled like a beehive as the door opens they say now you’re safe in moments like this I don't know how to behave I’m expected to be happy and to express this in a way I just say thank you and have a nice day

Eleven Words 03:16
ELEVEN WORDS Eleven words you wrote eleven words I didn't understand eleven words you wrote eleven words I already forgot you wrote them on a page you tore out of yesterday's paper you put it on the kitchen table and I kinda missed the point you wrote them in a hurry I guess just before you left they seemed important to you I really do regret I wanted to talk to you about it when we meet again but I didn't dare to contact you and you never called since then I remember every word you said and every single kiss but I forgot those words cause inside my head it looks like this: but I do recall there was half a picture of a dog and I kinda counted the words or I didn't but I'm sure there were eleven words you wrote

about

English:
A multitrack cello pop album. Everything except the singing is made with cello and bow. Though no effects like flanger or phaser have been used, the songs on THAW have a modern and sometimes a dark touch.

It's contemporary alternative pop music, rough, onemanbandy, straight celloish. The songs are about love, fights, loss, and being familiar with strange situations and people. (the lyrics are added on this page)

Tom Combo is a musician, singer, writer and spokenword-artist. He's been doing soundtracks for different movies and he's playing several instruments. Currently he's playing cello for Larry Bangbang.
He recently published his third novel "Inneres Lind" at Verbrecherverlag, Berlin.

Deutsch:
Tom Combo - Thaw

Your back is black and blue
And there's a knife right in your side
You might still want to Jeckill
While you already hide

Hairdryer Man

The scissors-things cut out all of your remains
Leaving a dark hole of infinitive depth
I lost some parts of me in there as well
Gonna call the department of identity theft
(Kill You)

Stones

You can't fly with your damaged wings,
but you can still use them to hit me
Some things you can’t ignore
You will hurt me even if it hurts you more
we throw dirt at each other and we swallow the soap
and we kiss while we feel more like cutting each other's throat

Windshield Wiper

Leave And Let Love

We lost all the tracks
But we found some traces
And we watched our steps
When the ghost's were getting faces

Vandyke Elevator
